Yiheng Wang has been an Artist-in-Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel since 2023, where he studies with Frank Braley and Avedis Kouyoumdjian.
Born in Shenyang, China, he began studying the piano at the age of four. At eleven, he moved with his family to Tokyo, where he continued his studies with Yukio Yokoyama.
In 2014, Yiheng relocated to Paris to pursue advanced musical training. He studied with Pierre Reach, Judy Chin-Cottet, and Romain Descharmes at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) de Paris, before completing his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in the class of Emmanuel Strosser.
His repertoire spans from the Baroque to contemporary music. In addition to the piano, he plays the harpsichord and creates piano transcriptions of harpsichord works by composers such as François Couperin, Jean-Philippe Rameau, William Byrd, and Domenico Scarlatti. This dual practice has shaped a refined musical sensitivity and a distinctive interpretative voice.
An active chamber musician, Yiheng performs with violist Miguel da Silva as well as the Goldberg Quartet, with whom he has appeared in Switzerland and Belgium. He has also received artistic guidance from members of the Belcea Quartet.
Yiheng has shared the stage with distinguished artists including Gautier Capuçon, Nicholas Angelich, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, François-Frédéric Guy, Emmanuel Strosser, Vanessa Wagner, and Marie-Josèphe Jude. He has also benefited from invaluable artistic advice from Sir András Schiff, Augustin Dumay, Midori Goto, Bertrand Chamayou, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, Enrico Pace, Till Fellner, and Aleksandar Madžar.
A laureate of several national and international competitions, he received the Young Critics' Prize at the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in 2021 and was a semi-finalist at the Long-Thibaud-Crespin International Competition in 2019. In 2022, he won First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 10th Concours National de Piano *Les Virtuoses du Cœur*.
He has been invited to perform at numerous prestigious festivals, including *Un Été en France 2025* (at the invitation of cellist Gautier Capuçon), Piano en Saintonge, Festival Européen Jeunes Talents, Saoû Chante Mozart, La Folle Journée de Nantes, and the International Piano Festival of La Roque d'Anthéron, where he participated in a project presenting the complete cycle of Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas.
Apart from music, Yiheng has a deep interest in cooking and enjoys creating recipes that bring together Asian and international flavors. For him, music and cuisine share a common ability: both can evoke memories, awaken the senses, and take us on a journey. Exploring this connection, he has successfully presented *concerts gastronomiques*, creating a dialogue between music and gastronomy in which live piano performance and cuisine unfold side by side, bringing together the senses of taste and hearing.
